Experience
Practice Velocity — Belvidere, IL (1/2008 to present)
System Architect / Software Lead
Worked as a database development lead and systems architect. Mentored team members on database design best practices, coding standards and object oriented design using design patterns. Standardized a data access layer to multiple databases. Set up a remote data access service as a SOA front end to multiple databases. Re-architected Tablet PC web services data layer to prevent SQL Injection attacks. Assisted in migration of production databases to new servers and setup replication server for real time reporting system.
Key Projects
v VelociDoc: A tablet PC based Electronic Medical Record. Designed the data access architecture and database using web services to sensitive data on PV servers while non sensitive data was stored locally on tablet PC. This design reduced the amount of bandwidth and time required for high data loads. Integrated database with existing systems in a SQL 2005 environment.
v DBA Duties: Performed database maintenance tasks that included index tuning, partitioning, security audits, data file management and data synchronization.
v Lead Duties: Performed code reviews, data model reviews and mentored junior developers. Introduced standard processes to group in areas of requirements, unit testing, build management, and object oriented design using design patterns.
Hamilton Sundstrand — Rockford, IL (6/2001 to 1/2008)
System Architect / Project Lead
Designed and built in-house engineering applications that dramatically reduced engineering costs. Created implantation architecture and framework utilizing LLBLGEN Pro, that allowed for an extremely rapid concept to rollout timeframe for all engineering applications. The applications were built using Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2005 with Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 being utilized in the data tier. Both Windows Forms & ASP.NET were used in the user interface. Web services were used to various degrees on each application. Instrumental in all phases of development life cycle from requirements gathering through deployment and user acceptance testing. Designed and taught database design class to engineering staff on proper data organization and structure Participated in developing DOORS requirements architecture for requirements management.
Key Projects
v FTR Tracker (Formal Technical Review): This application is designed to track and document the formal reviews required by certifying agencies (FAA).
v FACT (Failure Analysis Tool): This application was developed for the Reliability, Maintainability and Safety department. It allows engineers to design and reuse circuit components for the analysis of failure modes resulting in an 80% reduction of costs in the analysis.
v CDT (Communications Data Tool): This application is designed to model all electronic communications and signals through all components on an aircraft. The CDT has allowed Hamilton Sundstrand to go from 11,500 man hours on communications data per program in 2002 to an estimated 4000 man hours on the latest programs while the communications data increased by 800%.
v Apsif Tracker: This tool is designed to tack all hardware / software configurations used to run flight tests in the development lab. This tool was instrumental in providing documentation to the FAA for program certification.
Ablesoft Solutions, Inc –Oregon, IL (6/1999 to 6/2001)
Senior Analyst
Involved in all phases of development for several client projects. Mentored junior developers.
Instrumental in designing new architecture to build systems that were more robust, scalable and distributed. This architecture allowed us to shorten the development cycle and won awards for one of our clients. Taught Microsoft Access classes at Entré computer in Rockford, a strategic alliance partner of Ablesoft Solutions, Inc.
Key Projects
v Integral Technologies: First Line DigitalSENTRY. Developed the framework that allows a digital surveillance system to remotely configure and access cameras over any TCP/IP connection. Built the administration module on top of this framework. This product was the ISC West 2000 New Product Showcase winner of Security Industry’s Finest Award.
v CamTech Inc. — TMS (Tool Management System): Developed client server application that tracks tools and gauges for manufacturing plants that need to be ISO 9000 certified. Product was developed using VB 6 & SQL server 7.
v McDonalds Corp: Developed stand alone VB6 application that tracks product sales and calculates numerous pull charts, build to reports, and stock needed reports. Application was shipped to approximately 5,500 stores worldwide.
v American Medical Association: Worked on project that tracked Doctor certifications using VB 6 and MS Access
